Fashion Week

So it is crazy that the tags have not come off of the fall clothes yet and I am already checking out all of the spring styles for fashion week. I have seen a couple of great things from Alexander Wang but am not too over the top yet with '09 threads. Has anyone else seen anything good?

Marc by Marc Jacobs

Little ole Marc used to be the cornerstone of my wardrobe when a little ole store called Neiman Marcus used to carry his line. His clothes are definitely funky and actually a really hard fit for most bodies so NM discontinued his line at the Minneapolis store. I thought would be over the moon when I saw that Savvy was going to pick up his line. Ironically, I haven't purchased anything!
I did stumbled upon this dress that I thought in essence had a conservative cut yet screamed rocker with the exposed zippers:

Alexander Wang's Best of Fall

At 18, San Francisco native and fashion wunderkind Alexander Wang moved to New York to attend Parsons School of Design, taking internships at Marc Jacobs (my classic closet favorite for fashion forward funk), Derek Lam, and Vogue. By his sophomore year, Wang was already designing the first collection of his label, Alexander Wang, which would debut in 2006. Though predominantly clean and pure in aesthetic, the line also incorporates elements of street fashion and the imperfect, a juxtaposition of ideas that mirrors Wang's experiences and background. Obviously a man who is worth my attention! Here are some of my prefall favorites:
This silk-chiffon dress with boat neck and seam detail at front is a sure fire winner. Spaghetti strap detail, hidden zipper, and the best part - ruched chiffon train at open back. I think this would also look great with a visible bra in the back - very SJP. I will be watching for a mark down on this number:)
I also thought the zipper detail on this sweater was quite interesting. I see it with skinny jeans and my dark brown suede Manolo Blahnik boots!

This next piece is a great classic with an intersting twist that might be a must have. It looks great on its own or I could throw my new Joie black cardigan that I snagged at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

Purple Little Pretty

Rumor on the street said purple is going to be the IN COLOR for fall....well maybe I didn't hear it on the street, but as I was cruising through Salon Shoes at Nordstrom, Ellen told me that she wanted me to buy purple shoes. Low and behold, the sales person presented us with these and said my daughter had the pulse for what was hot for fall, so proud of my little fashionista. Ellen's reaction was buy these mommy! I told her that I would love to but if she wanted mommy and daddy to live together, we'd have to wait. Here is a sale watcher for me.....why is Dior tempting me with so many great things?

Fall Twenty8Twelve Trench

So I am still scoping out all of the fabulous pre-fall lines that are coming out. Thankfully I am not gaga over a lot of things - beneft when the fundages are low. From what I have been reading, fall is all about patterns and wild colors. I am more of a solids but with interesting cuts/textures kind of gal. I did stumble upon a cute little outfit from Twenty8Twelve. I love the jacket, skirt and sweater combo. I am not sure if this will look good on me but like it on the model. It's too bad we all can't have our clothes pinned to fit us properly. I am excited, however, that Nordy just sent me a letter thanking me for being such a great customer and I have $300 in free alterations for the year - yeah!!!

I procured a darling mini from Sweetface (J. Lo's line) - black satin with a clever pleating on the front that makes it look a bit like dressy shorts. But alas, a skirt! Can't find a photo online so I'll have try taking a pic in it one of these days.

Christian Louboutin Fall 2008

My poor blog has been ignored. For the two readers out there, I am sorry! It is a tough time of the year fashion wise because it is 100 degrees outside, all of the cute summer clothes are gone and my favorite fashion season FALL is yet to arrive. I am not a fan of the transitional wear that they try and sell during these off times so I am scoping out websites trying to find some fall pre-orders. I will try and be better about this.
The first piece of fashion they release always seems to be the shoes - how fortunate for me:) There's nothing like some good red sole action from my shoe weakness - Christian Louboutin. Here are the two pair I would LOVE for fall/winter 2008:

Dries Van Noten

Dries Van Who? I honestly say that I am completely not up to speed on shoes like I should be. I have spent so much time looking at shoes like Manolo Blahniks, Jimmy Choo and love of all loves, Christian Louboutin that I have completely ignored one of my new favorite designers - Dries Van Noten. Here is a pair of beautiful footwear that I spotted in the Nordstrom Salon Shoe department. DVN makes so many beautiful shoes yet these are my favs. It was so sad that after one 33% markdown, they were still over $500. If I had the funds, they'd be worth every penny. I will, of course, obsess and hope they take another mark down and then they will be mine!!!

Dior Gladiators as seen in SATC and its imposter

Hello Lover - that is a term used in my favorite series SATC and also a way I love to address fabulous shoes. Part of the hype for me for Friday is seeing all of the great fashions that will be in the movie. So far my favorite are these gladiator sandals by Dior:

The irresponsible, reckless me wants to click on add to cart on eluxury.com, but my nonprofit paycheck says, "please, STOP!!!" I am 99.9% of the time am not o.k. with designer look a likes but in this case, I may make an exception. These shoes are uber trendy so $64.99 at Bakers might be more my style.
